Champion of Character

Nolan was selected (along with several other students from school) as a Champion of Character!

He and the other students were honored during half-time of the UF Women’s Basketball game last Sunday!  They had the privilege of going center court to be recognized as well as a nice “Champion of Character” shirt and a certificate.

Of course, we are so happy for him and couldn’t be more proud of our Champion of Character!

A Birthday In DISNEY

Hubby’s birthday was last week and we celebrated with a 3-day trip to our favorite place on earth—DISNEY!  Joining us on our trip were my in-laws—they love it as much as we do and go when they can!

Because hubby’s team had a game that Friday night, we were delayed going down and didn’t arrive until around 10:00 that night (yuk)!  Never fear though—my amazing in-laws picked the boys up from school that day and they headed in early afternoon to have some grandparent fun with the boys!

Saturday came fast and the boys got to see two characters from Monsters, Inc.!  These were two that we had never seen in all our previous trips!

On Saturday afternoon, we headed over to Animal Kingdom for a few hours of fun!  (and because my mother-in-law wanted to eat dinner at her favorite restaurant the Tusker House)

As always, our first stop is Kiliminjaro Safari!  And y’all!  This rhino was LITERALLY THIS CLOSE to our Jeep!  This picture is not zoomed at all.  We actually had to stop and wait for several minutes, as he was in the road blocking our path and at Disney, the animals have the right-of-way!

Sunday morning came early, and we headed to eat some HOT beignets at the French Quarter!  YUM YUM YUM!
(We were staying at the Riverside, so it was only a 2 minute ride).

After our amazing breakfast, we went over to Epcot!  After riding Soarin’ and Test Track, the boys (the big ones) wanted to ride Mission Space.  Carter decided he was big stuff and wanted to go too.  This Mama was SCARED TO DEATH that he would HATE it.  Mind you, I will NOT go on it and don’t plan to.  No thank you!

Grandaddy and Daddy said he did GREAT though!  He LOVED it!

Popcorn & Movie Time

Once or twice a week, my kids beg me for popcorn and a movie.

Sunday night (when we got home from Disney) they begged for some popcorn and a movie!

Sometimes, I’ll pull out the cute popcorn containers we have just to make it fun for them!

This particular evening, they were getting along so wonderfully and really being good friends to each other.  It was SO NICE to NOT hear arguing, fussing, fighting and whatever else comes with having two boys.

As many Moms with boys will tell you, one is a lot, two is insanity.  Let me just tell you that most days, I’m on the brink of a nervous breakdown with these two.  They are a HANDFUL.  Very energetic.  ALL BOY.  Arguing.  Fussing.  Fighting.  Wrestling (this is what literally drives me insane).

Any Moms of boys have any tips?  (other than lock them outside which I will neither confirm or deny ever doing).

Allergies…

The oak is blooming here.  We have lots of trees around us.  We live on a farm.  That’s one of the worst things on earth for kids with allergies.

Unfortunately, both my boys have seasonal allergies.  This is QUITE expensive.  We go through one of these bottles a week!

You’ll notice this is the “off” brand—that’s because the real stuff cost(s) about $10 a bottle.  I only buy the real brand if I have a coupon.

I feel SO BAD for the boys because I really only have a slight allergy to pollen (although they should feel bad for me since I NEVER had allergies until after I had babies!) and they have TERRIBLE allergies.  The minute something starts blooming or falling from the trees, they both have yucky noses and watery eyes.

I’m sure hoping the “allergy” junk will be gone soon!

Happy Birthday Cecil!

Sunday was the hubby’s 33rd birthday!  We celebrated with a weekend in Disney (more on that later in the week).cecil_bday_2012 003

We don’t tend to do big celebrations for Cecil or myself, so the boys and I got him a funny card and a red shirt he can wear at baseball practice!  (I go for practical!)

Guess What Time It Is ????

Seeing these stacks of papers on my dining room table means only one thing….

tax_time 001

IT’S TAX TIME !!  (yuck).  Because we don’t pay quarterly taxes, ours are due by March 1 each year.  (actually I think it’s the 15th of March but I always tell hubby it’s March 1 so we make sure to have it all done).

It usually takes Cecil and I a solid week of sitting down for at least an hour a night to go through all our bills, invoices, and papers—to sort, stack, and distribute into categories (fuel, chemicals, seed, fertilizer, maintenance, etc.) to be able to give it to our accountant who in turn, prepares our not-so-easy tax return.

Here’s one thing I definitely know:  These people get LOTS of our money every year!

A Glimpse Into My Future.......

I had a glimpse into my future last night (baseball and boys!).  And you know what?  It was wonderful, perfect, and just as it should be!  I loved it.

The hubs and I (with some help) fed the high school baseball team last night.  If you are counting, that's 16 teenage boys!  WHEW!  Y'all--I've never seen so much food consumed.  These boys ate and ate, and ate some more.  I nearly didn't have to wash dishes because they scraped the pots clean.  ha!

We had chicken and white rice, chicken and yellow rice, green beans, and rolls.

After dinner (while I was putting finishing touches on dessert), they gathered in my living room to receive their uniforms and discuss what color sleeves to wear at their game tonight (who knew guys discussed clothing?  ha!)

For dessert,  I made pound cake and cut up some fresh strawberries, then made homemade whipped cream.  They ate all that too!

It was a blast!  There was LOTS of laughter, it was VERY loud, and .....

I wouldn't have it any other way.
